Ontario Real Estate Association (OREA) has announced the appointment of Tim Hudak as their new Chief Executive Officer. Tim joins OREA from the Ontario Legislature, where he has represented the people of Niagara for twenty-one years. He served in three Cabinet portfolios: Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, and Ministry of Consumer and Business Services (where he worked closely with OREA to write the Real Estate Business Brokers Act, 2002 and create RECO).
As Leader of the official opposition until 2014, he led 80 staff and managed a multi-million dollar budget. He brought together a committed and cohesive team that stuck together despite a very intense, high profile work environment -- with direct reports overseeing communications, policy development, fundraising, budgets, human resources, stakeholder relations and membership engagement functions – similar to that of OREA. He also worked with a regionally elected Board to renew the PC Ontario Fund and exceed their ambitious fundraising goals.
OREA has had a very long, positive working relationship with Tim collaborating on a number of issues of importance to Ontario REALTORS such as electronic signatures on real estate transactions, the creation of a grow-op registry, halting an expanded municipal land transfer tax and personal real estate corporations. He has been a regular guest at OREA and local board events.
Tim has a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Washington (Seattle), and a B.A., Economics, from the University of Western Ontario. He is married and has two daughters, Miller and Maitland. Tim will be resigning his seat as MPP on September 15 and we will determine his start date at OREA in the near future.
