Our Mission
Durham Region Association of REALTORS® is committed to helping
its members excel as real estate professionals.
Our Vision
The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® is a highly respected
and indispensable real estate resource provider.
Past: The Durham Region Association of REALTORS® (DRAR) formerly the Durham Region Real Estate Board (DRREB), was founded in 1954 by W. Paul Ristow. Ristow along with a group of brokers, met out of a common interest to address the growing need for establishing real estate standards of the real estate practice in Eastern Ontario.
Present: DRAR is a Member service organization of over 1,500 Members. The Association President along with a group of seven Directors work with Committee Members, Chief Executive Officer and staff to ensure Members continue to receive quality services and resources.
Future: DRAR will continue to promote a high ethical standard for REALTORS®; by providing vital services, benefits and training needed to succeed. DRAR is committed to building a strong service oriented Association for Our Members.
President's Message
I am excited, eager, enthusiastic and most of all, honored to be the 2024 president of The Central Lakes Association of REALTOS®. My first Presidential run was during covid where the association goals took a back seat to the essential work the association had to focus on during a global pandemic.
This presidential year I expect to be just as dynamic, but for very different reasons. The difficult and rewarding work that has been done, in the years prior, have now all come to fruition! Our integration has brought us all together and my goal is to guide our association to harmony. There is no longer a them and us! Myself, with our directors and staff have incorporated this vision into our strategic plan that focuses on you, our members. Some patience and vision will be required in order to service our vast geographic area but, we are up to the task. Venues that house our large membership are scarce in some areas but we have amazing and resourceful staff working on solutions.
I am proud to say our association has gotten noticed, locally, provincially and even nationally. Our members are supportive in the changing landscape of organized real estate and cherish the work it will take to bring us all together.
This position, although volunteer has afforded me many things. I am enriched with leadership education and experiences. It has opened the door to countless professional opportunities but those who really know me, know it’s the relationships that I covet the most. The relationships that are nurtured over years, plant seeds of an idea that grow into great projects, that benefit many people in our profession.
Members of the Central Lakes association of realtors, I am confident in my ability to lead our association as the 2nd President and I am eager to fulfill my goal of harmony as we continue to evolve.
Best regards,
Vicki Sweeney, President
